LET ME INTRODUCE MYSELF
I live in Montgomery, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Besides some time in Germany and Rapid City, SD, I have lived mostly in the Chicago area, where I grew up. The Museum of Natural History is my favorite museum , but I love all the activities and cultural events in Chicago.
After 15 years with the local electric company, I received my bachelor’s degree from National Louis University in Applied Behavioral Science and then my Master’s in Education. I now teach for NLU in the ABS program, teaching Culture, Group Dynamics, Adult Development, Ethics, Leadership and Professional Communications. I am teaching right now, but someday I hope to relocate to a “cozy little waterfront cottage” and teach directly from a beautiful location.
I also volunteer for ProLiteracy America with ESL students, where my limited knowledge of Spanish does come in handy when it comes to communicating with my non-English speaking students.
I found Stout’s online program while doing research on the internet, and I am looking forward to learning about teaching online.

Hey Jan – I like the design you chose. Is being in these two classes driving you crazy? For awhile, I couldn’t keep the two classes straight, but now it has shaken out and I’m not having that problem any more.

Jan, loved seeing your picture – maybe you are past all the discomfort now? Hope so. Thanks for sharing a bit of your history and I can’t wait for that small cottage on the water to be yours. ~ Datta Kaur

Jan,
Love the design!! I too would like to retire to a “cozy, waterfront cottage” at some time. I’m taking two classes also and don’t know if I have them straight yet!
Respect your decision to volunteer your time to teach people english, on top of everything else!
