Jan,

Wow, I think you really needed a hug. One online class is enough for me, so I can't imagine taking two!

Congratulations for finding the inner strength to finish your classes.

I will miss reading your posts,

Jan - my reflective log is full of hair-pulling moments. We all had them. But look what you can do now!

Jan, thank you for learning the survey software. I appreciate the information that was covered through your questions. Would you consider 'warming' up the questions a bit. An example: One might ask "What is your best learning style?" Or one might state, "I learn best with images and graphs. What is your 'best' learning style."

Slight difference but adding 'parts of you' helps the students understand your sincerity, showing that you truly care about their answers. ~ Datta Kaur

Jan,
Sometimes I use handouts from the text as students have to learn some chemistry basics, however, I have gotten so I add formative assessments to the lesson so I can "show" students that copying another's homework worksheet can and will be detrimental. I like your idea of turning in a paper periodically, for both feedback and to minimize plagarism. Win-Win

Jan,
I like your use of a Wiki for group work. Will you create the wiki in an area that you control or allow students to find a site and create their own wiki?

Jan,
I'm becoming a bigger fan of mapping all the time and this is saying a lot from a person who was famous for writing the outline to a paper after she wrote it. Now I think I understand why. I hated the restrictive structure that a typical outline made you conform to? Who cares iif its Roman numeral I or Arabic 1? Who cares if it A or a? With mapping you're freed from all those restrictions and are just free to plan the flow.

Jan, these are such general comments on group work. I may assume that all went well but I would have loved to read some serious reflections on the process. Thanks for your involvement. ~ Datta Kaur

The good news is we managed to get back on track and finish. That's the secret to great teamwork - pulling together.

Hi Jan,

I'm glad the blogging is becoming less challenging for you. Experience has taught me that whenever I am using a new technology, it feels so uncomfortable and awkward that I doubt I'll ever get used to it.

But then, as you've noted, I realize that as I continued to practice, it does get easier. I think this is an essential process we need to remember when we ask our students to blog. They might be used to texting, but edublogs are something entirely different.

I must say, this site is designed beautifully! Keep up the great blogging.
